Liquid metal can be applied to a variety of base substrates, including wood, MDF, acrylic, ceramic, tiles, ACP, fabric, and even concrete. As the liquid metal coating forms a thin 1mm layer on the base, it is advisable to select a highly durable and lightweight base material to fully leverage the advantages of this innovative material. At Evolve, we typically utilize MDF for interior and furniture applications, ACP for exterior projects, and WPC for wet environments.
In our formulation, we have prioritized strong adhesion of the material to the base substrate, so the longevity of the material is closely tied to the quality of the base. As long as the substrate remains intact, the liquid metal coating should remain durable. However, there is a risk of cracking or peeling if proper care is not maintained, such as using acidic cleaners or subjecting the surface to mechanical abrasion.
